An awesome addition to the portal.

There were a few 'staging' problems in this. For example, at the very end, when pico walks out the alley he walks somewhat further into the road than is depicted in the next shot. No big problem at all and I'm probably exaggerating it a tad, but it bugged me; thus you only get a 9 rather than a 10.

The style of the characters and animation was amazing - could you tell us who did what? For example, did one of you do characters and the other backgrounds?

Great submission, it's certainly a favourite. I also admire you for replying to so many of your reviews :D

An awesome addition to the portal.

The-Swain responds:

There were a few definite things that we can each take credit for, but for a lot of the 'toon, we actually both worked on the same parts simultaneously. For example, in any given scene maybe I drew the mannequins, Julian drew the keys over them, I did the betweens, he did the color, and then I add the sound. There was so much alternating going on at some points that it's hard to tell who put more into it.

Also, I don't wanna announce who did what, because if we hadn't teamed up then none of it would exist all. For that, I must say that we each did everything :)

I preferred your old style.

As said above, I preferred the style of your previous episodes. In the episodes prior to this one, there was a lot more fbf whereas in this one, actual animating was lacking (comparitively).

I'd also highly recommend that you move away from the 'One man stands on scene and another walks up an initiates conversation' premise. These guys don't just stand around. Where's the furniture in their house!? I'd also take the 'action' outside and into different areas - at the moment, it feels as though you're simply reusing the same lip-sync mouths, character animations and bg wihout actually creating anything new or specific for this piece. Of course, I'm sure you did work hard on this, but I'd like to see it being more apparent.

The sound was crystal clear - as usual. No gripes there.

Play and replay button - don't need anything else, so you get an interactive 10.

I'm not laughing when I watch these. Humour's hard to do, huh.

If I were you, I'd take a break from duck luck for a while - work on some completely different projects and experiment further with animation. I think that this will help you breath life into a project which initially seemed promising, but appears to be delivering the same package time and time again. I mean...We've had seven episodes now without any significant character development or story!

You can (and will) do better.

3/5

Snubby responds:

Yeah, I prefer my old style too. Lot's of people don't though. Actually, say out of 10 people that have given me feedback from episodes #4 - #7, you'd be the only one who prefers FBF.

I think that until the viewer is competent in FBF, they prefer to watch tweening. It's just the way it is, unless the FBF is really really good, they just don't notice.

Anyway, I really see the honesty in your review and agree with everything you say. Although, basically when writing a series though I admit I lack plot/development of characters, it's good to end up where you started. This one happens to be a two parter, because next episode everybody will have to run away from the neighbor or something because he's a murderer.

ANYWAY! I am starting a new mini-series,
Woozle and I merged, and since he is producing a somewhat lengthly cartoon, I have to keep myself busy until it is done (so that he can help me out with DL8, because neither of us can double project).

Anyway, I respect you and appreciate your qual. review.

Hmmn

It's a shame that even respected artists feel the need for a bit of 'toof-bashing'. I honestly would have hoped that people of your e-stature would have kept out of the whole, messy affair.

Anyhoo, the graphics were good.
The lip-sync was perfectly functional, but a bit off at times.
The voices and sound-quality were great.
I put 3 for violence because this was a hate-flash and due to the cavity looking damn painful.
Play button and replay button...not much else needed.
It wasn't funny (for me).

Overall, I give you a five.
Definately a more eloquent toof-bashing cartoon, but I found that it contained an air of arrogance: stop telling Logo how he should make his series...it's his business.

I hope you can put your talent to a more pleasant use in the future.

:D

At the start, I had the feeling that I wouldn't find it too interesting...It seemed to be pretty bland. Fortunately, I kept watching and ended up really enjoying this. The graphics are extremely stylised, but I feel they are somewhat lacking; however the great animation more than makes up.
As close to a flawless cartoon as you can get: story-based, funny and nifty song.

Bleh.

That was lame to quite an intense extent. The graphics weren't bad at all, but it was just...pathetic. It wasn't funny and it wasn't long enough for any style to be established. Not to mention that the opening animation was felt as long as the main body of the cartoon.

I hate to leave such a negative review, but a bit more substance next time would be lovely.

Please try harder.

That was fan-bloody-tastic.

Consistently badass graphics.
Amazing style - the bgs looked great and the characters were animated very well.
Great song and appropriate sound effects when needed.

I loved the ending, the camera man's face of mild-disbelief was just hillarious.

Real good job on this, I enjoyed watching it (what more could you ask for?).

You get a Five, a Ten and I'm going to submit it to the 'funny movies' collection :)

ConAir responds:

That's more than I could ask for haha, thanks for all the kind words. Also, I'm glad you liked the ending, I wasn't sure if I conveyed the whole movie-production thing quite right but I guess I did. Thanks again!

Love it.

The whitmore-shaped hole in my heart has been filled. Thank you.

EdibleCastle responds:

..aw, that's so nice of you to say.

I enjoyed that.

There was something about this which just made it great to watch. I think it's a combination of the sound and light colours. It would probably have been hillarious had I been hip and known about the whole blog thing... Either way, this is a fun cartoon which should definately make you smile. I know I did!

I liked this.

This episode seemed way funnier than the other ones. I'm not sure why, it just worked better. The fight scene was quite intense, the TooFsplosion was awesome. It would have been nice to have seen more general destruction in that sorta way.
Good job, 4/5.

ps: why did animatorjones' monster save the day?

MACception responds:

Lol...he didn't save the day, he killed Cubey :) I made that character in honor of Jonsey, but sadly he doesn't even like him that much.

Yeah, I love doing those TooFsplosions :) Thanks for the review dude!

Ace.

You really seem to be fulfilling your creative vision, it's awesome to see it developing. Anyhoo:

Graphics: The backgrounds are amazing. You've worked hard on making sure that there is a consistent (and very high) standard throughout each scene. I knock of a single mark here, because the main characters are sticks. You've done great work, don't get me wrong, but no matter how different you make them (with reference to the haircuts and hats, etc), they'll only ever be sticks. Of course, this must allow you to spend so much time perfecting your backgrounds!

Your style is flawless. You manage to manipulate light seamlessly. I can't think up any criticisms for your style, other than that this episode was significantly slower paced than the previous one - there was a lot of walking with no plot/character development, which made it somewhat dull. For the script errors, I've deducted two points here.

The voice acting is, generally, solid. However the quality of Beecher's recordings were poor and Boomer sounded a tad bored. Great use of music throughout.

Overall: As I mentioned earlier, your truly suceeding in bringing your vision to (proverbial) life. Your directing ability is very good, except for the long periods of nothing which punctuated this film. For example: why show four shots of helicopters flying when only one would suffice? You need to work on the timing.

Small problems I found, but this is still a magnificent project. Very well done and a 5/5 for you.

Get-lost responds:

Thanks alot.

Used to mess about with flash for fun, now do it professionally.
